Isolation is a highly profitable business model.

For thousands of years, humans lived in tight, shared groups to survive. Sharing resources is efficient for the tribe. It is terrible for the economy.

Ten people living under one roof represent a single economic unit. Ten people living alone in studio apartments are ten consumers. Ten Netflix accounts, ten internet bills, ten sets of appliances.

The environment shifted to accommodate this. Cities were redesigned for the individual. Community support was outsourced to paid services, or “provided” by the state. You feel disconnected because the world was intentionally remade to separate you from your neighbors and sell you the cure.
